Oil pan

Does anyone know if you can use an oil pan out of a 02 F150 in a 99 mustang?

Probably not, oil pans are pretty specific to their own car. Just from my own knowledge not 100% sure. Good luck

Try this. Go to car-part.com and search for the part in question. Look at the list of "applications" that will "interchange" with the part in question. The salvage yard industry is very good with this interchange data.

But +1 on above. I would be very surprised if the oil pan will interchange for the reasons mentioned.

Usually not. Truck pans often have the oil pickup on the opposite end of the pan than the ones for cars. I'd check a parts house for the oil pan for each vehicle. If they are even close, a side view would show you where the oil pickup is.

Only reason I ask is I bought a 99 GT it’s a roller I’m putting a 4.6 2v Romeo in it out of a 02 F150 I was going to just get a mustang pick up tube and pan but no one makes a pick up tube for a stock pump and pan for these cars or I haven’t been able to find one yet anyway

Should we assume that you did not get any motor parts from the original 1999?

Have you purchased the motor yet? If not, consider using a Romeo motor from a 2003+ Panther (Crown Vic, Grand Marquis, or Town Car). The oil pan will interchange (will be one quart smaller).

Did you search car-part.com for just the oil pan? The only reason a salvage yard would be willing to part out just the oil pan would be because the rest of the motor is junk. Perhaps you could get the pick up tube as well. Perhaps it may be more cost effective even if you have to spend more for the Panther motor (saves money not having to change the oil pan).

I also found a NEW oil pick up tube on Rock Auto for $38.00

I already got the engine I think my best bet will be to buy a ford racing high volume pump which comes with a pickup tube and get a mustang oil pan

What modifications are planned where you "need" a high volume oil pump?

I know that the long blocks are the same. But what about the other "stuff" bolted onto the long block?

Doesn't the F-150 have a long runner truck intake manifold that is different from a car (Mustang) application?

Aren't there other differences in the long block like fuel injector size? And EGR?

Most of the time I'm helping people with this swap they have the original motor to swap Mustang specific parts from.
