Got the trans serviced today. It was only $150 and the tech said it only had moderate wear. The fluild was very dirty and it appears that the new fluid and an additive has eliminated the shudder problem.

that's good news. let's just hope that us sketptics are wrong and your tranny lasts another 100k haha. its always nice when a car drives the way it should. mine finally does after over 2 months of it not running right. its a sweeeet feeling.

So I've put 250 miles on my stang since the trans service (fluid and filter no power flush) and she is running awesome! Low RPM shudder is gone!

I took a big chance buying this car with 193K. But I've got to say this a very good car. I can't believe how tight she is. I'm not running her hard but when I step on the pedal she jumps with a roar. So high mileage cars are a risk when purchasing but the history made this work; one owner women's car with no mods and in execellent shape.

Putting her up for the winter except for warmer dry Sunday's.

im a little new to this forum but dont think your in the clear yet. i have a 96 stang that i did a fluid/filter change on at 105K and it worked AWESOME.....AT FIRST...then about 1k later started to slip hardcore. now its lucky if it can even move it self. so take it easy on it. needless to say i just ripped out the trans yesterday and and about to throw a t-45 in it. Anyways i hope it all works out for you i really do but just dont be surprised if it doesnt.

This is true but what factors caused you to change your fluid. I didn't have a trans problem other than shudder. I also didn't have heavy wear per the local trans shop (described as moderate based on visual and metal...these guys are good and did caution me of the chance of failure after fluid change).

This thread centered on should I change or shouldn't change the fluid I based on milealage. The other point was power flush versus pan drop and filter and fluid change.


If you are having trans problems or your fluid is really dirty or burnt your trans is on borrowed time in my opinion so why not give a fluid change a shot.
