New Bullitt Owner

I just got a 2001 Mustang Bullitt in the True Blue color. There are some cosmetic things that I need to replace from the guy that traded it in at the dealership. The guy put blue window tinting on it which I think looks hideous. Also he added some stupid hi performance 289 badges below the GT badging (and drilled into the fender!!!!!!!). How do I fix this? I am wondering if I take the hi performance badging off and replace them with the GT badges that are above it. Do the OEM GT badges have pins on the back that are drilled into the fender from the factory?

The car has 86,000 miles on it and shows the wear and tear on the driver seat, steering wheel, etc. The car is my weekend car (drive a truck during the week).

Let me know what I need to be on the lookout for.

Mathew

I don't think car makers install emblems by drilling holes anymore. I think your idea would be the easiest to do. Buy new GT badges, remove the 289 badges (WTH was that guy thinking??!!), then place the new GT badges in a position that covers the holes that guy drilled into the fender.

You should be able to remove the old GT badges with fishing string. If you have a heat gun, you might want to warm it up a bit to get the adhesive gooey first. Then take some goo gone to remove the residue, then wash with soap and water before installing the new GT badges.

I'm surprised the car isn't red from embarrassment, lol. You'll get her back into repectable form!

I am pretty sure the stock GT emblems use alignment pins with a hole behind them, so moving them to cover the new hole won't solve anything. You can get some nylon plugs, sand them down and coat them in touch up paint as a temporary fix, until you decide to get the holes filled by a bodyshop.

The factory GT badges have more than just alignment holes. They have a huge recess in the fenders and a big-ass hole in the center. The plug idea will not work.

When I took my GT badges and bought my 281 badges ,
For one the gunk left behinde the GT emblem is a pain in the ass to take off and clean ,
and two theres going to be a big hole in the middle so you might have to find another solution,
