sorry accident post early
details are:
came across a whole donor car for almost free, engine has 60k miles on it. i noticed that it has the 4.6 dohc. i did research and saw it only had about 260 hp. is this because its capped off by a limitor?

Also is it worth switching into an 02 mustang. I was thinking is there a way to send the heads out get them ported, new cams, and then decide how to wire this up

any suggestions or anyone do the swap b4?

You'll be money and performance ahead by just putting $$ towards a turbo/supercharger kit...or an actual cobra motor. The lincoln motor will disappoint you.

You can't use the Continental engine , the block is cast to mount transversly in that Lincoln chassis . Get a gen2 97-98 Mark8 LSC engine , 290 hp and they have an intake manifold that will work in the Mustang engine bay . They also have the improved 'b' heads , ie: beehive valve springs and unshrouded valves . The gen1 93-96 Mark8 intake manifold has the tb mounted at the rear of the manifold so it will cause clearance issues with the Mustang firewall .

Here is one of the better DIY threads available for this swap .

Don't port the intake side of the b heads , they already have tremendous flow . The gen2 Mark8 heads already have the upgraded exhaust cams so you could upgrade to the 96-98 Cobra intake cams .

I wouldn't make this swap into a new edge chassis but it is a reasonable alternative to a full pi swap into an sn95 car .

neither Lincoln engine or even Cobra motor makes sense unless it's a Termi motor, get a supercharger, all mod motors need them to make "real" power

I guess it depends on the budget . If someone has a tired high mileage npi 215 hp car then a 290 hp Mark8 aluminum block 4v swap is a valid alternative and probably cheaper than swapping in a pi iron long block 2v .

If it's a big budget build then i wouldn't touch a used Termi takeout . I'd pick up something like an MMR forged short block , TFS 2v heads and a KB .
