New to the 4.6 4v Romeo engine

While I'm not new to engines in general I'm new to the 4.6 4v Romeo engine in the 98 cobra I just got. Any helpful info on service manuals?

Helpful tips on gaining performance?
Just looking for opinions on porting and polishing heads, water methanol kits, turbo and supercharger kits.

Car currently has headers, h pipe, Flowmaster mufflers, cold air intake, upgraded clutch.

Looking to add power of course just doing some research before hand.

Any info is appreciated.

98 Cobra with a 4v iron Romeo ? Somebody blew up the aluminum Teksid ? If you have the 4v b heads and you should they don't need porting , they flow like a mofo stock . Those cars need gears then rods & pistons if you want to run a lot of boost , the b heads love boost .

Well if you have the original engine it's not an iron Romeo , it's a Lincoln aluminum Teksid with a forged crank . The Teksid was used in the 96-98 Cobra . Here's an option if you want to freshen your short block :

Get a MMR 1000 Forged Short block for only $1999 - Details inside>> - SVTPerformance

MMR uses forged Manley pistons and forged I or H beam rods installed with your crank in your block .

The MMR website i gave you keeps your stock block & crank . MMR will pick up your parts , do all the machine work to your block and install rods & pistons of your choice along with your stock crankshaft .

If you trust/want a local shop to do the work here is the Manley website .

Manley Performance

I doubt that you will be able to just install stock bore pistons in a 14/15 yr old engine unless it's very low mileage .

I notice your sig is still showing a Romeo block . Ford used the iron Romeo in the 03-04 Cobra , the aluminum Windsor (WAP) in the 99-01 Cobra and the aluminum Teksid in the 96-98 Cobra . For the Cobras , the Windsor & Teksid had forged cranks but the s/c'd Romeo used all forged internals . Did somebody swap in a Romeo in your 98 Cobra ? If it's an early Romeo you may find a cast iron instead of the forged steel crank and possibly only 2 bolt main bearing caps , that would not be a good thing . If it's a Termi short block then that would be a very good thing .
