$475 Quote for Gear Install

Hey Guys,

I'm in the Burlington, NJ area and purchased everything on my own for a 4.10 gear swap...Ford Racing gears, Ford Racing master rebuild kit, Ford Racing TLOK rebuild kit, and Royal Purple oil. I contacted Radical Racing in Atco for a quote, and made them aware I had all parts. They quoted me 475 just for install. Should I look elsewhere, or is their work worth it?

Yes get the limited slip additive, however use one from a chemical distributor if there's one around you. I cna't remember the name but it's made using whale fat, smells absolutely horrible, but it's better than anything a local parts store has. It's about $18 for a 6oz bottle, but it can't be beat.

Well, in this post I am looking for the feedback on the install price when I already have all of the parts. Also, doesnt the Royal Purple have the limited slip already?

When you supply everything they have no room to pad the price with their parts markup so they quote a rediculous labour cost . It's possible they don't want the job so quote a price you can refuse and go on your way .

Supposedly, but virtually everybody uses it anyway. Just get it from Ford.

Whale fat? Are you serious?

All limited slip additive smells bad. So does gear oil. I'm hard pressed to believe anyone still kills whales to make gear lube.

Anyway... I wouldn't pay $475 for a gear swap if I already had all the parts. Keep shoppin'

Well I just got a quote from JDM who said the TLOKrebuild is another 2 hours of work on top of the gears and said 680 all in. Maybe the gears and tlok at 475 at Radical Racing ain't that bad
