Help. Made startling injector discovery

So looking at my friends new 01 gt he bought we noticed his fuel injectors were yellow 19# ers. We looked at mine and saw they were red....30#ers.

What I was wondering is...is this a problem? If my car wasn't tuned for them would it even be able to run without throwing codes? I've driven it like this since I bought the car last July with no problems. Am I risking anything running it like this???

Are you sure they are not the pink 21 lbs/hr ones? They look red in certain light settings, and unless you take them off the engine it can be hard to tell the colors sometimes. They changed from 19# to 21# in 2001 when they started using the Windsor engines instead of Romeo.

Those are definitely pink. They are the same ones I have on my '03 (stock). You have nothing to worry about.

That's what I was thinkin' too. OP's friends' car has orange 19#'ers and OP's car has the pink 21#'ers. OP might need to go check the color chart at the optometrist's office

BTW, you had the engine thing backwards.... They began using Romeo in '01.

Here is a pic I took of my injectors when I took them out to change the spark plugs. A few of the top O-rings are missing, and one of them had dried up and broke in half when I took out the injectors and fell down to the spark plug. Luckily I noticed it and got it out before I took out the spark plug! Would have been bad if it fell down into the combustion chamber. I replaced the 8 top O-rings, they were like 3 dollars for a pack of 4 at Autozone.

Anyways, these are the stock, pink, 21lbs injectors used in the Windsor engines from mid-01 to 04. The 99 to mid-01 Romeo blocks had the 19lbs injectors.

PS. Happy now SoCal?
