Just bought a 03 MAch1 Hood scoop discolored. help

Just bought a 2003 Mach1 and love the car. It seems like it had a hard outside life and by the looks of it the previous owner must have armor alled the mess out of the shaker hood scoop. From what i have read it is aluminum and the fact that it is gray bugs me. I bought some trim paint for it but I wanted to see if anyone has had to walk down this road before and if so what did you do? Any help would be awesome!

Pretty sure you can easily restore it. Just remove and clean it up and then a few thin, even coats of some matte black rattlecan n' it will look like new.
