Syphon gas when fuel pump is dead

I've seen a bunch of clever (connect to line at fuel rails) and not clever (drill a hole) ways to syphon the gas tank, but with my fuel pump dead, does anyone have suggestion on how to syphon the gas? I was thinking of dropping the tank just a little, pulling the filler tube and syphoning from that opening. I have about 3/4 tank of gas. It's a '99 and could probably use a new inlet gasket (pre-emptive maintenance) anyway.

That is what I did on my '98. I used a floor jack and piece of 3/4" plywood to support it and then a piece of hose.

I pulled the overflow hose from the tank and ran the siphon through that hole.
