2001 mustang heat from center console

Im not sure if this is normal but when Im driving my stang inside the car it gets hot around the shifter and down to the floor and along side the seats. basically the whole center console.

dose this happen to anyone else?


2k1 performance red GT 5 spd, x-pipe, bassani catback, 31 spline diff, the regular bolt on's, stripes and alot of wax... 4.10's FTW
if my stang dosent steal your pink slip she will steal your heart cuz she is DEAD SEXY!!!!!

I've noticed that as well. Both my 98 gt and my 91 5.0 do the same thing. I thought it was normal, but I'm interested to hear what all the experts have to say.

ya its odd I expect it to be warm but mine gets pretty hot sometimes but the car never overheats or anything like that

Its normal, the exhaust and transmission are under there and they get just a little warm. If it bothers you a lot you can try insulating, but I wouldn't, you don't want to risk a fire.

thanks racin I figured it was something like that I just wanted to make sure if it was normal. Im not goin to do anything about it like you said why risk a fire or some other problem.

My shifter started getting really warm, so I changed the trans fluid and it cooled down, but it didn't get all the way to the console, it was just the shifter itself.

Mine get a little bit hot too, but only when I really gun it, If I drive normal it's not so bad and it's the just the shifter boot.

I might change the trans fluid to help it cool off its not bad but I wish it didnt get hot like that
