Once again the old '99 has me angry..

The 99 is pinging/ detonating..... again. The last time I had this happen I replaced the plugs and it went away. Not this time.
It is NOT supercharged nor does it have NOS. its all stock and no check engine lights.
It doesnt matter if its 87 or 92 octane.

The car has 4,000mi on rebuild.
All coils have been replaced
5,000 mi on spark plugs, They all look good (nice tan color) NO carbon at all
had the computer reprogramed at ford
new fuel filter
All new o2 sensors
clean air filter
the fuel pressure is normal
Its pings/detonates worst in 5th gear at half throttle or more. It never has a loss of power while pinging.
There are no vaccuum leaks (checked all of them)
I never replaced the cam sensor or crank sensor, would that make it ping? Any help is appreciated.

I had some pinging with the copper style plugs in mine. I went back to the platinum plugs that it was designed for and the pinging is gone, even with 87 octane fuel.

You get a larger spark with the copper plugs but, that seems to make the flame travel across the cylinder too quick with an OEM tune.

When was your pcv valve last replaced? You may even just want to delete it or splice a small fuel filter in the line.

I tried the seafoam and that actually made it ping more and louder after about 30 mins of driving, now I dont even want to drive it. I also replaced the pcv valve when I put the motor back in. And when I put the new plugs in, I put the motorcraft plug in.

I think Im going to junk this car, I just cant deal with this bs anymore.

How long after the rebuild did it start?

Have you tried switching gas stations? . . Try a gas station that doesn't have Ethonal and see if that does anything.

Great advice, next time tell him to piss in his gas tank.

Could be a number of problems from the tune (most likely), crank sensor, MAF, air or fuel filter, etc.

Angry

Well it first started before the rebuild and I changed to the motorcraft plug and it went away. Now the rebuild has 4,000 miles and now its starting again. But I beat the living crap out of it today...the tach never dropped below 4,000 rpm for 50 miles straight hoping it would blow up again cuz I really dont give a sh*t.....well it didnt and the pinging is gone. go figure.
