Replace Rear End or Get Gear Job

If I can get a fully rebuilt 8.8 rear end with less than 20,000 miles with brand new 3.73 gears, new bearings and seals, and Ford Racing carbon fiber trac loc rebuild kit would it be easier to replace the ENTIRE rear end, or just get the gear/rebuild job at some point?

Depends, how much do you have to pay for the 20,000 rear?

i'll never do a gear swap again without tearing the whole rear end out...
it's too simple to drop the rear out and put another in if you wanted to. but as mentioned, it depends on the $$$$

just my .02

rear end job

I just had my rear end completely redone, every piece of it other than the shell. Steeda upper control arms, Maximum lower control arms, 3.73 gears, trick flow girdle, new axles and all new bearings throughout and aluminum driveline. it totalled about 2500$ with over 700$ labor charge. Its expensive but well worth it, I wish I had done this a long time ago.

I just had my rear end redone with moser 31 spline axels, frpp diff, 4.10 gears, bearing kit, and rear end girdle. The labor was around 600 and the parts were around 1,100 but its worth it to know that the rear will stand up to anything I throw at it. Just check on all the specs of the new rear end and if you can build one cheaper just do that.

I would stay away from that one if it were me. Those gears were setup very tight.

yeah, that looks like junk, anyone that admits it whines and leaks is probably understating the real issue
