Battery Sizes - Good CCA for 2002 GT?
Ok so I'll probably be needing to replace my battery soon (an old Super Start, 84 month pro-rate) and the whole size group thing is confusing me a bit. I understand my 02 is a battery size group 58 or 59, but I can't seem to find a battery that would fit that size and have better than stock CCA (was thinking a Diehard Gold or Interstate). But even batteries like the Megatron Plus only have ~590 CCA as size 59. And I don't see a size 59 for Diehards?
I found this sizing chart here ( BCI Battery Group Size Chart ) but I don't fully trust the info based on what I saw speccing out batteries.
What do you guys run? Is CCA not as important as I'm making it? My car starts a little slow sometimes and I'd like to eliminate the battery as a variable long term. I'd also like to ensure good starting if it gets colder out. I do put the car in storage during winter as well so it will sometimes sit for a few weeks at least without running.
Note: I also saw the the Optima Red's on AM that supposedly fit our cars close enough, but then again I've read mixed reviews on newer Optima's. I'm thinking I might jump for it if I can't figure anything else out for certain.

I run Interstate batteries, just drop in whatever the size chart says
Thanks, ill probably just go for the interstate then. Sounds like theyre pretty good overall and I like the idea of justing picking up here as opposed to ordering online.

Yeah the battery you got should be more than sufficient. 590 amps @ 0°F should pretty much cover all your bases, considering that it only draws about 200A when you're trying to start. Regarding Optima, I've heard more bad than good. Highly overrated and overpriced imo.

Red top or Yellow Top is the way to go. Nothing else work better and last the life time of your vehicle. I have had the same red top for more than 15 years. It has died several times, as I forgot to turn off my fog lights which are rewired to come on anytime I want them. Gel batterys can be reconditioned at home with a battery charger for AMG batteries. Love the top's. i have a dual setup one for the engine and one for my system.

I bought a replacement OE Motorcraft from the dealer. Its a 100 month battery with a waranty. These things last...
