Computer gone bad in 1999 Mustang 4.6 What is best way to replace?

Hi, my computer has gone bad in my 99 4.6l automatic. The car has may aftermarket mods such as bigger injectors, supercharger, intercoller, maf etc. The current computer in the car does not sync up with the guys laptop who is dynoing the car. It doesn't do the handshake portion part correctly. So we havfe assumed that the computer is bad. Now the real problem. I bought a new computer where the part number was almost exact except for the last 2 number in the sequence, it was from a 99 4.6 automatic car. But it doesn't run in the car at all. I spoke with ford and they said the computer needs to be flashed to my car even if the specs are correct. What should I do here, has anybody gone through this experience? I am thinking I should just have my existing one repaired. Any suggestions? thanks.

The computer needs to match to you CAR IGNITION KEY, this is an issue that can only be solved by a re-flash.
That is the problem with the Anti Theft system, if the key does not match the code in the EEC the car wont start.

thats correct! also i think the vin is burned into each vehicles pcm. what should have been done before, was to find out why the car doesnt communicate with the scan tool. sometimes the only thing wrong will be a blown fuse to the data link connector. put the old pcm in, and check the fuses.

which shop in the OC are you taking your car to?

Why drive a Prius when you can have a Fiesta!!

Yeah it needs to be flashed to match your vehicle. We sell them where I work and only way they work is to get all the car info . year make model engine vin ect and then the computer manufacturer flashes the computer and sends them to us usually the price of the computer plus $65.00, suppose it varies on where you get it from.but thats the only way it will work far as I know..
