I would use a tablet with Bluetooth simply because you can put an OBD II reader on the port and read all engine parameters in real time. There are corded versions as well but then you have to hide the cord and it eliminates a USB port.

I've never seen the benefit of a built in NAV system over one on a smartphone, but others will disagree I'm sure...
