3.8L head gasket issues?

Hello good mustang fans,
I'm interested in a plain Jane 1995 3.8L V6 Mustang. It is in my price range ($3,200) and has 110,000 miles.

The 3.8L's reputation for blowing head gaskets has put me off. Is this something I should worry about? Should I factor in new gaskets in the price (talk the seller down to $2,500) or just look into an Accord or Eclipse?

If I do replace the gaskets, how many miles should I expect? I'm guessing I could get better than stock gaskets that will last longer, but I don't want to spend $3,000 only to have to replace an engine in the first year.

I live on a small island and don't even drive to work. I just want a Stang for the weekend. I'm not going to be burning rubber or anything, it's just that when I was 16 (ten years ago) I went for a ride in a 1993 Mustang Cobra and had the time of my life. :-)

It's great to see so many Mustang fans.
A.
