also, the automatic transmissions are considered more reliable than the manual, and if you plan on keeping the car for a while, pick up some subframe connectors.

Lastly, the parts are a LOT cheaper than your average Honda and Toyota, you can get replacement engines for 1700 dollars, used replacement engines for $500.

The expensive components for replacement are alternators and AC units.
