GM's OBD II computers are generally less flexible than Ford's -that said, did you unplug the Z28 computer after the install?

Just curious. You are correct about building blocks, but I have seen people who have installed exhaust, CAI, etc, and didn't record any gains. I always ask them "Did you remember to disconnect the computer?
