1989 mustang 2.3 ignition wiring to a 302

looking for help trying to wire a 302 into a 2.3 car. Can't seem to wire to factory ignition. Can only get car running with ignition bypassed. Anyone else run into this problem? most of the factory harness from under hood is gone, except for headlight wires and some of the starter solenoid. there are 2, 8 prong plugs as well. The computer and wiring is gone, along with old engine harness. appreciate any response.

Cool

This is exactly what you need! It covers both 2.3 & 5.0. It maps out every circuit in the car. It diagrams your ignition switch/wiring and every other electrical circuit in your car. I have one and used it when I built my '89 awhile back. I also used it when I swapped the '89 harness into my '27 Model T. It's an invaluable piece of literature and a great tool to have for your build!

The EVTM is a nice addendum to the wiring diagram and I would recommend purchasing that also.

This should help too (the harness diagrams, especially)...............
