Fore and Aft End Seals

Has anyone tried using the Fel-Pro intake manifold "molded rubber silicone seals" ... the blue ones for the front and rear ends. They are to be installed "dry" without adhesive. "A small dab of silicone sealer at the junction of the end seals and the gaskets."

Ive tried those as well as cork end rail gaskets,but Ive had much better luck at getting the intake to seal using neither of those."The Right Stuff" that comes in an aerosol can (size & shaped like a can of mousse for your hair) is some really great sealant,especially for these seal locations.It lays down a bead slightly bigger than toothpaste.When lowering the intake onto the block,four 3-4" long bolts (with the head cut off) screwed into the block at both front & rear corners,will make installation of the intake easier since these bolts will guide the intake in place evenly,so that the gaskets & sealant wont be disturbed.I recommend new intake bolts too.Ive had a few break off in the head while torquing them down from using old bolts.Cleaning or replacement of the pcv valve metal screen filter & pcv valve is a good idea too,since that screen is hard to access with the upper intake in place.

I’m using them and they’ve held up for over eight years now. My valve covers gaskets blew due crank case pressure but the rubber “worms” on the intake are still intact.

Almost stk

I used the Fel-pro molded rubber silicone seals when I rebuilt my motor 12 years ago and I've never any sort of leak in those 12 years.

I've used all 3 kinds of end seals over the past 40 years and have never had issues with any of them. Just a little TLC and some sealant and you're done.

As stated above, I do not use the end seals especially with aluminum manifolds. I use the Right Stuff RTV. I know Edelbrock recommends not using the end seals on their intakes.

A little extra effort is required, clean up is not any worse than with the end seals.
