Thumbs down Removed alarm but car doesn't start

Today my buddy and I removed the alarm on my pony due to the kill switch was keeping the car from starting once in a while. So we connect everything back and try to crank up the car but it won't fire. We checked for fuel pressure and spark (fuel pressure was good but spark was so so ). After a little troubleshooting we ran a cable from one of the wires connected to the ignition switch to the battery solenoid and tried to crank it up. The car fired up but if we don't remove the wire quickly, the starter won't stop. This is where we are stuck, it'll only start if we put that wire on and remove it as soon as the engine fires. Anybody have any ideas on what steps to take next to get the car to start normal? I hate having electrical problems (PAIN IN THE ASS ). :green

yes it cranks but it won't fire unless we connect that wire directly to power.

sounds like the ignition switch is not sending juice to the small connection on the starter solenoid. Check it with a volt meter to see how much it is receiving. It should be atleast 10v.

depending on what type of alarm was installed, specifically one with remote start.once you disconnected the wire your going to have to find the relay that was also installed(under the dash driver side).the ign 1 wire is not recieving juice when you turn the key(sending voltage to the coil)the ign 2 wire is doing its job(sending juice to the starter solenoid)thats why it cranks.the other unlikely scenerio would be just a bad ign switch.

Look under the hood by the solenoid area for a blue wire that goes to the starter solenoid. Check the voltage of that also. It's a single wire.

Talking

I just wanted to thank you guys for the help. My buddy came over last weekend with a volt meter and the wire we had connected to the fuel pump relay had enough volts before cranking it but when you try to start it the volts would go to 0. We connected it to another wire that held the volts and boom, started right up. Thanks again for the assistance. I'll most probably need heip on other things with the car.
