That JL unit is a TON of subwoofer...IMO, start with speakers first and build from there, I'm pretty sure its still coaxials in the rear deck. $1000 won't go too far, but to add another sub in the trunk, Alpine makes great subs with enclosures that fit right behind the back seat and takes up very little room, options are endless depending on how loud you want...gets real expensive, real quick.
