When I replaced the stock tires on my base v6, I went down to 215/55R17s. This changed the effective rear gear ratio to about a 2.95, which helped the car a lot. It drives smoother, sixth gear doesn't lug like before, it turns in better and has better feel in the steering. Also it sits a little lower. These tires have stiffer side walls which gives better steering feel and where about $30 cheaper than the stock replacements were. They are V rated to. I know everybody throws a bunch of money at bigger tires and wheel to improve the cars handling, these smaller tire have greatly improved the driveability of the car, it corners flatter and the shifts better spaced.
