I ended up replacing the factory front 6x8s with a pair of 6x8 kickers and now it sounds great. I guess the factory speakers couldn't put out as much treble with the aftermarket radio as they did with the stock HU for some weird reason.

I bought the Kenwood DDX470. Overall it's a good radio, the compatibility with apple lightning connect ports on newer iPods or iPhones is glitchy, but they told me that when I was buying it. Besides that it's great
