Yeah, I'm very used to commutes. I averaged 3 hrs/day for several years. The commute is actually better than I had anticipated before the transfer. The only thing that really sucks is the price of gas. I have to agree that sitting in traffic is frustrating.
Better have some alternate routes planned. Bad weather or accidents will kill the commute. I did 40 miles one way to Schaumburg for 3 years. One day it took 4 hours to get home. Better to travel off hours if you have that option or hang out and have dinner then head home. I was able to cut my morning commute to 45 minutes by getting to work before 7 am.
Pretty soon you'll be able to buy an electric or hydrogen car. I plan to get one of each once they're available. Keeping my Mustang forever, but will garage it in 5 years and drive the hell out of the others.
