Last years snow was pretty thick but not too much ice issues in the washington DC area. I just had on all weather tires and faired very well on the streets driving before or after the snow truck.
Just have to remember to keep the speed in the sweet spot. not to fast to crash but fast enough to have momentum to go over those small snow dunes that build up between the tires paths on the street.
I did not dare to do any foolish tricks as the drive that normal took me 10 minutes to work took me about almost 2 hours.
Just do not act like super man on the road.
