Too poor to Mod it.

i have alot of buddies with systems. as for quality id say memphis, rockford and jl come to mind. most bump for the buck? kicker. but they make alot of products. dont get the shallow mount kickers, they suck. if you just want deep loud bass and dont care about clarity or long life audiobahns are okay.

start the system off right with some name brand 4ga wire and some name brand rca cables and a fuse holder and even a capacitor if you think its necessary. for these things i would recomend nothing but rockford fosgate. ive had mtx cables and they left alot to be desired, the rockford rca's are defenitely years ahead of mtx.

get a good amp. rockfords are great, and you get what you pay for, but they are out of my price range and probably out of yours. rumor has it kicker makes a few decent amps, and a memphis amp (like i had) wont let you down. there are a few other good brands i dont have experience with (hifonics, boston acoustics, and others)

get a box that is way heavier than it looks. weight usually equals quality and sound clarity.

now get some subs and test them out. and dont be an idiot and choose your subs by how they sound behind your car with the hatch open, test it how you are going to use it.

important!!! put some rubber tool box linning pad in between your license plate and the hatch. this eliminates license plate rattle. and make sure your using all four screws of course.

good luck. whatever you do take pictures :shiny:

if all you care about is hard pounding bass at a cheap price get kicker L5 or L7 in what ever size you want.i dont care what sub you put it against its louder and hits harder for the money, ive been in car audio sence i was 13 and im 34.ive built 3 award winning vehicles at 146+DB my loudest was 154DB.go kicker.if you want loud and high quality go JL 12w3,6,or7.all my cars have had either JL or kicker.dont get me wrong there are louder, just not for the money.

people that dont aspire drive chevy's and imports.

The new Orion series is pretty good, not to pricy either. Directed Electronics bought Orion and Precision Power and pretty much combined the developers. I've been real happy with the new product. Other than that my second choice would be Diamond Audio. I currently have two Alpine 12" type-r's and havent been to happy with them.

Have you heard the new Orion hcca series... almost half the money of a JLW7 and personally I think it sounds better... Just kinda wondering if anyone out there has played with them yet and what their opinions are...
