Please suggest an Amp for a 12 inch Kicker L7

Just as the title says, what amp would you suggest for a 12 inch kicker L7 4 OHM DVC. My friend has a hifonics 1500w hooked up to one and its BA.
The kicker L7 is 750w rms and 1500w max.

So would a HIFONICS BRUTUS BXi1608D 1600W Mono Car Amplifier/Amp work or is it to much RMS?
-1200w rms at 2ohm

HiFonics amps are good but the Kicker ZX1500 amp was made specifically to power the L7 subs. I'd go with the ZX amp over the HiFonics.

Neither on eof those amps would be ideal for your setup. That kicker amp is one ohm stable. You just be wasting money by getting it. If you want to keep it with the same brand, you'd be much better off getting the kicker 600 mono. It's only two ohm stable and will put out more than enough power. Kicker amps are ridiculously underrated. I've seen a bench test from a kicker zx600.1 that put out just over 800w.

94 blacked out gt- sold.

2009 GT Premium Performance White- just some Flowmasters and a JLT for now.

The kicker 600 mono amp will under-power his sub. The L7 has dual 4ohm voice coils, and heavy duty sub components (cone, rubber surround, braces etc). There's no way the 600 mono at 2ohms would even come close to maximizing the subs performance. Running the ZX1500 at 4ohm's with 750 rms is exactly what that sub needs to achieve the best sound possible.

If you go with the Hifonics amp, I don't think it would be too much because I find that they tend to be over-rated, i.e. put out less actual power than stated.

Regardless, if you tune your system right, you can go over the RMS rating of your speakers. I have given subwoofers 2 to 3 times their rated RMS power and never had one fail due to overpowering issues.

Maybe I will buy a 2016 Mustang GT, maybe not...

Thanks everyone for the comments. Im basically looking for an amp that is between 200-300 dollars and can at least power the rms of the sub at 2 ohms.

Any of these will do fine... I've wrked with them all. just pick one.
KICKER 2008 ZX1000.1 Mono Car Audio Sub Amp/Amplifier - eBay (item 350092584763 end time Sep-02-08 18:45:32 PDT)

ALPINE MRP-M1000 CLASS D 1000 WATT MONO AMPLIFIER AMP - eBay (item 160276429862 end time Sep-02-08 00:35:18 PDT)

HIFONICS BXI-1208D 1200 WATT RMS MONO CAR AUDIO AMP - eBay (item 280259872198 end time Sep-03-08 19:06:42 PDT)

Don't be afraid of the HIFONICS amp. I just did an install with the 1600 watt BRUTUS on a Cerwin Vega Stroker 15, and it rocks dude. The 1200 watt BRUTUS will do fine on the L7 12, but I like the other two amps a little better.

To be honest, the key is in the enclosure. Put that L7 in the proper enclosure and a good 500 to 750 watt amp at 2ohms will make it pound just right. All the power in the world wont help a speaker in the wrong box.

Next, get a good signal to the amp. That way you wont crank the gain and risk clipping the signal which will destroy ANY speaker. Good Luck!
