Bluetooth mic placement

I want the sync system but don't want to trade my 08 coupe. The Sony MEX-bt3900u has audio streaming and 'tooth.

The sticky says it can work right in the top center of the cluster, and the Sony I am looking at has a regular Mic input plug so why couldn't you use a $7 computer mic instead of a 30/40 dollar car mic with the 13 foot cord?

Related where did you end up installing your bluetooth mic.

I put my mic right in the middle of the dome light cluster. Works great there.

Trust me, a cheapy $4 webcam mic is NOT the same as a Sony mic that is very specific to its installation. It will filter out the cars noise, pickup vocals, and wont buzz like a webcam mic.

Its worth the investment.

Cheers!
