Question about line output converter

So, I recently purchased both a 10' Quantum audio sub, and a Quantum beta series 1000W amp. I am going to get them installed, however I know I need a line output converter with the stock system. My question is, if I'm replacing the head unit (with a Pioneer DEH-4300UB), do I still need the LOC, and if not, why? Just want to be sure, as I don't want to take any chances killing my battery or burning up my alternator, as I've heard some people have done this.

Thanks in advance for your responses!

Per info at Pioneer DEH-4300UB CD receiver at Crutchfield.com this unit has pre-amp outputs for rear/subs, so you don't need a line output converter.

Kickass, props to you for the answer, thanks. I just wanted to be sure as to why it was that I didn't need the LOC with the head unit, and wanted to make sure I had all the parts I need. I know literally nothing about audio systems, so I appreciate it.

Good luck on the install. I just put a Pioneer double din 3300BT DVD in my wife's Tahoe, with a rear view camera; those Pioneers are nice units!
