05 Deluxe Audio Upgrade

A little help please. New to this gen mustang. Just purchased this 05 V6 auto delux. Plain Jane but need to ask a few about the audio system. First, how much difference between the shaker 500 and the stock radio? Is there a seperate amp for the shaker? Can I replace the 05 deluxe head with an 07 shaker head? I assume the most simple way to interace an IPod/MP3 is with the adapter units that interface where the CD player plugs in...If I can use the 07 head, would that make connecting the MP3/IPod easier? Thanks and I'm sure I'll be back.

well you could do the shaker system, however car is not pre wired. and cost of factory sterio parts is high. I would go with something A/M . I have a 300 watt amp and 12" sub in box and A/m head unit, and nice speakers that fit in original holes. I spent less than $800.00 and it sounds better than Shaker 500 does.

I know what you mean; I have an 05 GT, and I wanted to switch my OEM stereo (shaker 1000) for the 07 version. The reason being, I would gain Sat Radio capability...The guys at the Ford Stealership told me its not a an easy "bolt on" swap. Probably what 1kwikv6 was talking about. Im currently looking into a modest, and clean looking Double Din touch screen to toss in. The benefit of Cost/sound quality ratio is really on the side of Aftermarket...Im looking at something along the lines of the Kenwood DDX318 (link below) Be warned though, some of the extra parts (wiring harness and stuff) can add up fairly quickly. So ya, in the same boat...Hope this helped.

Good luck either way; Keep us posted.
