Mach 460 Replacement

I have read a lot and know you need some adapter to change out the factory Mach 460 cd players. When my mom bought her mustang (99-04) model, it had the Mach 460 sound system with the dual radio pieces (cd player on bottom and just some missing panel on top) not the large 6 disk changer. Would it be cheaper to replace the top part with the original or to buy an adapter and do an aftermarket CD player since I have one already?
Also I have saw what looks like the same stereo in mustangs without the Mach 460 speakers

it takes a special adapter/radio to interface with the Mach 460 speakers since it's a low ohm system..check out Crutchfield for options...I'd just replace both with a modern deck, you can use the empty space for storage or I have my boost guage/etc mounted where the CD player used to be
