those who have upgraded thier shaker 1000 head unit.....

im considering this in the future and was wondering. how do the subs in the trunk hook up to the aftermarket head unit? with the stocker, you have the option to turn the subs on or off, how will that work with the aftermarket?

or will i have to rewire the subs and amps like i would if they were aftermarket?

i just always like to know what im getting into in advance. thanks!

EDIT: also, what head units did you guys go with and how do you like them?

I would be interested to know this as well. When I had my 01 with the Mach system in it (it also had stock amps but no subs) I actually found a wiring kit that made it all hook up nice and didnt have to re-wire anything, not sure if there is anything like that for the Shaker 1000

The OEM subs require a 5V source to turn on. Metra makes a PAC harness plug and play no cutting of your existing wires.

It's for the Shaker 500 but as far as I can still it still applies to the shaker 1000. The RCA inputs from the $15 Metra harness will go to both front 8" speaker amps and the rear amp. As long as you get the voltage regulator from RadShack, you can install everything pretty cheap.
