Smile Keyless Remote Question for 2000 Mustang V6

My husband has a mustang we just recently bought. Its a 2000 V6 base model. And I was thinking about getting him a key fob for fathers day. But once reading itno this more it says your car must already be set up for this and have a code so you can program it. How could I find out if his car already has this and I could just buy these fobs? Any help would be great thank you.

Welcome to AFM! If the car didn't come with existing fobs then it probably didn't come with that option. Any stereo shop can install a kit for you though - although unfortunately it will be more expensive than just getting a replacement fob.

My 96GT didn't come from the factory that way and I've been wanting to get it installed some time so I have that convenience as well... just something else in a long list of stuff to do lol.

Thanks for joining and keep us posted!

Hello. If you look in the truck of your Stang on the left hand side, you will need to pull the trim away from the side wall. look about were the side maker light will be. Ther should be a two prong connector there. If you see that, then you can add the key fobs your self. Vrey easy to do. You can but them off E-Bay for about 10 bucks for 1 and 19.95 for 2. They will come with directions and it will take you about 10 minutes to progam them. After market ones are about 150 to have instaled and will play hell if the car had a factory alarm to start with. No tools needed to do this job. Again, Very easy to do. I have done this to many cars and my truck. Works every time.:yelpleased:
