On dash bezel, audio video via touchscreen to PC.

Hi, I thought I'd share my project with you. It's a hand made on dash bezel with touchscreen in my 2001 SVT Cobra (pics attached).

I'd never used fiberglass or attempted auto wiring before, but I wanted to make a bezel to go on the top of the dash. It has always bugged me as to why designers would put a video unit in a location that meant you have to look down away from the one and only place you should be looking. Or has a screen that covers important switches when the screen is opened for viewing.

The fiberglass Bezel holds a 7" Touchscreen and is wired to an in trunk Car PC running Windows 7.

Aprime requirement was that I didn't want to damage the dash so there are no holes, screws or tape used. I can easily remove the bezel and bring the dash back to stock

Some of the enabled functions controlled from the touchscreen include Hands free Phone, GPS Navigation, WIFI Internet, Bluetooth, TV, DVD, Music Video, Diagnostics, Microphone, Aux in and out, s,USB port, I Phone, Reverse camera, Front Night vision camera (100 metres in total darkness). Cameras recordable via Touchscreen.

At this stage he PC sound is wired through the existing Mach system and I continue to use the stock 6 stack CD and Tuner.

A key challenge was ensure the Bezel doesn't obstruct my view. I finally got there and it isn't an issue.

It was a hell of a long project but a great learning curve. If you want any information just email or reply.

P.S Take a look at picture 5, you'll see the night vision camera recessed below the number plate. Also, in this picture you can see the two additional high beam driving lights that were designed into the front bumper for the Australian car.

Thanks for your time, hope to hear some feedback.

I'm surprised no one's asked you more about this... it looks really interesting.

I had plans to put a PC into a project car... of course, that's in the far future when I have enough $$ to attempt such a thing..

but, how is this working out for you?

That is some really good fiberglass work, I can't believe that's your first time doing it.

Very nice job!
