Help with Gen-2 Remote Start

This past Christmas, I bought myself the "Ford Motor Company Remote Start System with Deluxe Vehicle Security and Keyless Entry" (Gen-2) key fob for my 2005 Mustang GT convertible. I bought the vehicle a few months ago and only noticed a few weeks ago that I had the remote start and security add-on.

I'm having trouble getting the automatic start to work. Ive been playing around with the PATS Interface Kit because when ever I try to start the Mustang it gives me a 1 quick beep telling me that there is something wrong with the SECURILOCK functionality. If however, I place my coded key by the SECURILOCK ring the automatic start will work.

Do I need a new ring to go around my ignition to get the remote start to work correctly?
