Just upgraded my sons base V6 audio. You wont believe the crappy speakers that Ford installs. Chinese garbage. Upon alot of searching of forums we went with Pioneer TS-6802R for the front and rear and an MTX thunderform base module in the trunk. Sounds way better even using the stock HU. Alot of folks are also happy with Infinity speakers as well. There is no easy way to add door subs to your car so if you want more bass, a truck install is the way to go. Both MTX and JL make a form fitting bass housing that fits nicely in the corner of the trunk on the passengers side. We ended up getting the MTX because of price, $419 for the loaded box with amp.

i'm real happy with those Pioneer TS-D6802R in my car. I'm working on a solution for replacement door subs powered by the stock amp, but it will be awhile until I can give a report. No space for an amp/sub in the trunk of my convertible.

6 Speed Manual, Steeda Sport Springs, Koni's, FRPP Power Package & LCAs, 3.73s

You will have to buy or find new door panels that have the built in housing for the door subs. A junk yard part dealer may be the cheapest route.
