Largest component with tweeter in 6x8

Hi I was wondering what the largest midbass you could put in the 5x7/6x8 space with a tweeter on a custom adapter plate? Is the box 5x7 width length or is it really 6 x 8?
Thanks!

Well, I just did 6x8 Kenwood 3-ways for the rear swap, you have to put them in from the top. Chrutchfield website is a good reference.

I have seen 6x8 adapter plates that fit 5.25 and tweeter in one plate and 6.5 and tweeter.

Also 5x7 and 6x8 are usually the same because most 5x7 plates bolt to 6x8. Go to www.crutchfield.com and go to find what fits my car. They will show the size then go look at adapters with tweeter holes usually 5.25 or 6.5 and tweets fit
