Shaker 500 speaker swap

I'm putting 2 10's in the trunk, and I was thinking about pulling the 8's out of the doors making a adapter and putting a 6 3/4 component in their place. Then placing the tweet above where the mids are now. That was my thought or would it sound just as good disabling the 8's and just replacing the door mids with some good 6x8's?

Why disable the 8's. I love the sound and the feeling of them beating on my leg!!
