2013 Mustang V6 Door Speaker Installation

Absolutely need help. Ordered JL Audio C2-570X speakers from Crutch. Have my door panel off and these speakers are not fitting. Anyone know of a great speaker that will fit in the door panel? I have the shaker system without nav. The tech on crutchfield said to use the factory speaker bracket but it doesn't seem like the factory speaker detaches from the bracket (looks like its all in one). Please help!

I don't know about the shaker system, but on my non-shaker Mustang I had to break off extending tabs on the Infinity 6x8 speakers I bought that apparently allow it to mount in larger (6x9?) openings. With the tabs on, they were too big to fit in the 6x8 openings in the doors. I broke the four tabs off with a pair of vice grips and they fit perfectly.

How were you able to mount the speakers if you broke the screw tabs off the speakers? The guy on crutch told me to use the factory brackets but it appears the speakers and factory bracket are one piece.

My Infinity speakers had the four mounting holes that lined up with the door panel mounting holes... but also had four "extra" mounting tabs for some reason. They would not sit flush in the 6x8 opening with those tabs.

I looked at a picture of your new speakers and it appears they also have "extra tabs" protruding out of them on the long sides.

I don't want to make a wrong assumption since I don't have a Shaker system, but I would guess those two tabs are preventing you from getting them in flush.

The screw holes on the JL Audio don't like up with the screw holes on the door (come up short and aren't aligned correctly). Also, it apprears the speaker brackets are different on the 2013 than prion years. Will post a picture in second.

Looks like you have to take that whole unit off to replace the speaker to me.

You need the mounting brackets for a 13 Base car to mount the aftermarket speakers. I pulled this quote from another thread

Quote:
Right off my invoice

4R3Z18B947AA body hardware, instrument panel, sound system, door speaker spacer COUPE Right 1 $0.00 $11.14 $11.14 4R3Z18B947BA body hardware, instrument panel, sound system, door speaker spacer COUPE Left 1 $0.00 $11.14 $11.14

13 GT base, 3.55, Sterling Grey, MGW shifter, BMR LCA's, GT500 AB, silver RTR's, 275/40/19 Michelin pilot super sports, more stereo equipment than I will admit to, more parts to come.

You don't need these spacers if you have the base. You DO need these if you have the premium with the Shaker. I had to order these from a 2010 GT for my 2014 premium to allow the aftermarket speakers to fit.

2014 Ruby Red V6 Premium w/pony package, Magnaflow Street axle-backs, LED license plate light, LED interior lights, Strip LED trunk lights, MMD Hood struts, SCT X4 Tuner with Steeda tunes for life, Boss 302 strut tower brace, OEM extended range remote start, Raxiom Navigation.

I would agree, I have a 2013 Premium and ordered the spacers from Ford... best $12 part (each) you can spend. Only use them if you have sync or touch and be prepared for a surprise when you get in there : the door speakers looked like $3 Chinese toys when I pulled them out. I put in Kicker brand, but anything is better. Left the subs alone. Maybe someday I'll tackle those, but trunk space is more important right now.
