2005+ Mustang Stereo Upgrade

Hey, so I have a 06 V6 with the base stereo system. I had installed a 6 disc stereo unit a while ago but I have recently been wanting to put in a touchscreen. I have found several decent units but I was told that I have to buy a $200 ford adapter, on top of the wire harness and install kit. Almost think that just finding a factory Ford touchscreen would be cheaper. Any ideas on which route I should take? Or if that ford adapter is even needed? Thanks!

Contact Crutchfield.com, or stop past Best Buy. The Ford adapter should be a lot less than $200, for a base system. I had a 07 V6 with the base stereo system, that I replaced with a touchscreen. The adapter cost me around 50.00. It was a PAC AOEM-FRD24 harness. Sonicelectronics.com has it on sale for $42.95, with free shipping.

New Stereo

Awesome, thanks for the info. I just checked their site and they look like they have pretty good prices. I just emailed them to see if they have everything that I would need. Would you still recommend using crutchfield for the dash kit? I want a flush finish for the deck. I am looking at the Pioneer X1600DVD. Pioneer AVH-X1600DVD (avhx1600dvd) In-Dash 6.1" DVD/MP3/USB

New Stereo.

Crutchfield is a good choice. They have superior support services. Good luck on your new system.

Pioneer AVH X4600BT

So I ended up going with the Pioneer AVH X4600BT. It's a nice 7 inch screen and it works pretty well. After installing it I noticed the accessory delay doesn't work on it. The windows still work so that fuse is still good I think.

Did you find out why the accessory delay didn't work with your radio. Mines worked fine.
