Aftermarket Headunit w/ shaker 500 system

I have an aftermarket head unit in my car. The previous owner installed it, but didn't have the factory subwoofers hooked up. I'm trying to use the factory shaker 500 door subs and factory shaker 500 amps with this aftermarket head unit.

I did a bit of searching, and have some to one conclusion. I can only utilize the factory amps/subs if i get the PAC adapter ( PAC C2R-FRD1 Factory Integration Adapter Connect a new car stereo and retain factory amp and rear seat system in select 2005-up Ford, Lincoln, and Mercury vehicles at Crutchfield.com )

Is this correct? or is there another way to achieve this without getting the adapter or butchering the harnesses behind the dash?

Thanks guys.

I suppose i should have been more specific. The car is a 2005 and doesn't have the Sync system. The head unit is just a cheap kenwood unit.

Looks like that IDatalink system won't work for the 2005 year.

you will need the adaptor with the red and white rca plugs and blue/white amp turn on wires. its a metra product. I just installed a headunit in my 05. my door subs weren't working so I did some research on here and the red or white rca plug needs to be connected to your rear or sub rca output on the back of your headunit. also make sure that your sub option is turned on thru the audio menu. test to make sure it works prior to install. hope this helps. I ordered all my install stuff from crutchfield. the harnesses that you can buy from the mart or big box stores does not come with the additional adaptor. good luck

Lots of bolt on goodies...

1) Metra 71-048 Speaker Wiring Adapters Work with select 1998-up vehicles — connect new speakers to the factory wiring plugs at Crutchfield.com

2)Receiver Wire Harness For select 2003-up Ford, Lincoln, Mazda, and Mercury vehicles at Crutchfield.com

I'm assuming #2 is the harness you're referring to
