You know what man I read all up on this when I was buying speakers AFTER I bought the harness and it was backwards. I also talked to another member on here who installed his, then re-installed after he was reading about reverse polarity. He said it made no real difference that he could tell and wouldn't hack the wires if he had to do it again. Also, w/ the speakers all in one (I believe they are called component speakers) it doesn't matter like it would w/ non-component (separate mids and tweets). I read that from a credible source about audio. Can't remember where but it wasn't just some keyboard jockey on a forum.

I went ahead and just installed mine from Amazon that were backwards and it sounds great. Just my 0.02

EDIT: check this thread out. I think it's page 3 where there is a picture of the harness that shows what is reversed

You should always make sure you have the correct polarity when hooking up speakers. The aftermarket speaker wiring harness will have a stripe on each of the white, grey, purple, and green wire along with one without a stripe. The stripe indicates the negative wire and the wire without the stripe indicates the positive wire. Speakers are mechanical cones that push and pull air to create sound. Sound pressure and vacuum is created by the speaker either pushing out (pressure) and pulling in (vacuum). If you reverse the polarity on the right side from the left, one side will be pulling air in and the other will be pushing, which will diminish bass. The sound will be very poor.

Does this mean that if they are both wired backwards that they would sound fine? My hearing isn't what it used to be so I'm not sure that I would know the difference if they were wired incorrectly or not.

Mine sound great and a LOT better than stock w/ the reversed polarity wires. I bought one from Amazon AND best buy just to see if there was any difference and there is not. Both were reversed. I bought the Amazon one first b/c in the picture it's correct but when you get it in the mail, it's reversed. FYI
