2000 GT Radio Change - No Sound

I replaced my non-Mach radio/cd/cassette player with a premium radio out of a 2000 Ford Contour, part number 98BB-18C815-AA with a matching amp. The radio powers up o.k. but I can only get a faint sound out of the speakers even with the volume turned to the maximum. The wiring to the amp and radio appears o.k. Help!

The radio you are putting in has low level output (less than 2 volts ac). It was initially designed to send signal to an amplifier (factory). You should get a new after marked radio, which will provide you with high level speaker output. My preference is kenwood because they make 22 watts rms compared to every other radio at 16 or less.
