shaker 1000 trouble with aftermarket head unit.

Just got my car back from car toys. The installed a pioneer touch screen and everything works good until i turn it up. The 8 inch subs in the door seem to be overpowered because i get a popping sound at about half volume. Also my main annoyance is the doors rattle like crazy. I have messed with all the settings on the head unit and there is no way to cut power to the front subs and keep power going to the rear. My goal is to be able to blast music again with an average amount of bass in the doors. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Check what the voltage output is on that new HU, and see if there is a max input voltage on the OEM amps. Sounds like you could have too high an input signal going to the amp at higher volumes.

Also...does the new head unit have any crossover filters?? They are low impedance woofers...not subs and if a full range signal is sent to them, they are playing beyond their designed FR specs.

Thanks for the reply. It turns out the head unit is overpowering. So is there anyway to drop the door woofers and keep the tens in the trunk?
