'67 dash speaker

Hi guys,

While I have the dash pad and dash stripped I'm looking at the old mono speaker. Has anyone had any luck with a 'drop-in' dual cone replacement stereo speaker setup? My friend said say away from the Ken Harrison stuff at CJ Pony because he says it doesn't even come close to fitting around defrost duct and mounting studs don't line up. Anyone had luck with a drop-in replacement?

Tks,
Tboh

I made my own bracket and installed 2- 3 ways (4").... and have 2- 6" 4-ways in the rear package tray........Kenwoods....easy, simple and worked the 1st time.

Something to consider is that the central dash mount is, well, right in the middle. Putting in 'stereo' speakers with only a couple inches of separation will mostly deliver 'mono' sound. You might be better off with some new kickpanels that have built-in speaker pods, if you're an audiophile, along with some nice 6x9"s in the back.

'67 dash speaker

I replaced the old blown speaker in my 67 convertible with a dual cone speaker from MU. I was able to change it out fairly easily without removing the dash. If your dash is out it would be easy.
Good luck

Thanks John...what is MU? Do you recall what brand speaker it was?

I did as others have done and fabricated two 4" speakers into the 4x10 hole. Sounds OK. Not as good as the two in the back.

Goggle "4x10 stereo speaker classic" and you'll get plenty of ideas.

I'm not John, but I suspect MU is Mustangs Unlimited.
