Question 65 Mustang data plate last number is E

Hello,

I have a 65 mustang convertible 4 speed.

Newbie here to the forum. I was hoping someone could Please tell me here. The last letter is E (transmission) mean. I have check everywhere on the net and I can't find the answer. This is my Data plate number:

76A F D6 020 81 6 E

Here are the transmission Codes and there is no E it shows only 1, 3, 5, 6 for a 1965 mustang. All the other numbers works out even down to the color.

Unless being in Canada would be different?

I would appreciate someone, anyone helping me out on this.

TIA

Here are the transmission codes but no E on the 1965 mustangs

Sometimes the manufacturers use alphabet letters to denote numbers. If Canada did this, then "E" would be equal to 5 which matches the 4 speed manual transmission. Does your car have the white with black trim interior? My chart didn't have an "F" color for the exterior but everything else seems to match.

Thank You! That makes complete sense. Yes the interior was white but had no trim when I got it. But I'm very sure it was black trim like you said. The F is the color Caspian blue for 1965 mustang (guardsman blue for the 641/2)

This is where I got my info on the the data plate.

I have been looking around for months and thought I would fine something on this but nothing until you .
Thank You and very much appreciated!

Hey, no problem. Glad to help out. I'll add the "F" color to my data plate chart.

Could it be that you are looking at an F not an E?, They were stamped either 1, 5, 6 or F. F meaning a Dual range C4 from Canada.
Post a picture of your data plate.

15/5/1964 260 Manual Coupe.
23/3/1965 289 Manual Fastback.
