Transmission selector

My c4 does NOT shift properly when the selector (t-handle) is on the dot with a circle. instead it shifts properly when the selector is just on the dot, right after neutral. Almost like those two settings have been switched. How is this possible ??

HoYa, the early (64-66) C4 transmission had an oddball valvebody with 'ranges'. I.E., the ol' Green Dot setup. However, it's very common to find one that has the later '67+ valvebody, with PRND21. Perhaps you've got a 'newer' transmission or valvebody in your car?

Edit: The "Dual Range" Cruise-O-Matic (64-66) C4 starts in 2nd and shifts to 3rd when it's in "little Dot", goes 1-2-3 in Green Dot, and stays in 1 when you put it in the lowest slot. The detents are all the same for a later C4, even though the markings are different, but you get all 3 gears automatically in D, and it will simply hold 2nd or 1st when you select those positions.

I smile a lot. It makes people wonder what I'm up to...

Modifications are like a box of chocolates, you never know what you have until you dig into it. I keep a record of any I do, just in case I sell the car/part (and the record goes with it).
