So the other day I was at the local pick and pull grabbing some small front end pieces that I had somehow misplaced while building my 94 Lightning, when I spot the roof of a sonic blue 05 mustang. I figured I would take a look at it before I headed out, which probably was a bad mistake, as soon as I got a good look at it I knew I wanted it. Long story short, I ended up buying it and saving it from being stripped any further. I bought it with “no title” with the intent to put it on the track and be a “Weekend Hooker”. The car had hit a deer in the right headlight are and really had minor damage, which is great considering my planned use for it. The damaged parts have all been pulled off, minus the radiator support which needs a light pull to get it back where it needs to be. The parts that had been pulled before i got it have now been replaced.
The original 4.0 V-6 has been pulled out and all the heating and a/c lines have been removed and a AJE tube K-member have now been installed to lighten up the front end and get it ready for the track. The car will eventually get a mod motor put in it at some point as I have a 5.4 dohc coming from a buddy of mine, and I also have my eyes on a 4.6 dohc motor that just came into the local pick and pull. For now thought she will get a freshly built 351W that I have on the engine stand that was originally intended for the Lightning at some point for track duty. The motor is perfect to go in this car for the time being, and will be ran via Fast XFI 2.0 system. Which will make for a pretty simple swap over to the mod motors when the time comes. What I really love is the amount of room I have under the hood with the 351 installed and mounted the k-member...
Car will get a 10 point 8.50 certified roll bar installed in the very near future along with a full BMR rear suspension.

It has been a lil bit of work to get it where she is now, but I love the car. I swung by the pick and pull yesterday as the had recently got in a black 06 and i still needed a few interior pieces for the dash. Well this one had all of it, center vent, passenger vent and both airbags. I also grabbed the right mirror as it was also gone.... total cost was just over $100, i cant complain on that.. next up radio delete plate and interior trunk release...

Thats very possible, if so it will stay that way. Just build another one setup for boost this time... this one was built to run as a N/A engine.

Great googly moogly, Calvin - that engine looks epic.

A Windsor with AFR heads gives up nothing, compared to a mod motor. Beauty!

I smile a lot. It makes people wonder what I'm up to...

Should be a fun lil ride, something to compete in weekend bracket racing here local. Love the Cougar... had several of them when I was younger....67, 2 68’s and a 70.

So, i got my dash somewhat back together. Still have a couple more pieces for the radio delete, and push button start that I need to get, but it is slowly moving forward. Its one step at a time I guess.

I hope so, it has plenty of work ahead of it, but wasn’t planning on it seeing the track this year anyways... got way too much work still ahead of me.

Still working on trying to figure out headers on this build. I know the fox body 351w swap headers will work, but I would really prefer long tubes being this is a dedicated drag car and I dont plan on running full exhaust on this car. Any input from any of you that have done this swap would be great.
