Race weight

I put my car on a set of scales today I borrowed from a friend. Car weighs 2790 with me in it. 2599 without me.

Weight without me : LF-745 RF-742 LR-554 RR-558 Total-2599

As car sits, it consists of: 87 coupe, 331 w/ Aluminum heads, No full exhaust just longtubes, gutted interior except stock seat and dash(with blower box behind dash still), 8 point Bar, C4 Auto, 15x10 Weld prostars with 28x11.5 Hoosiers, 15x4 Summit Stars upfront, 10 Gal. Fuel cell w/ approx. 5 Gal in it, and stock steel hood.

Over the winter I plan on taking the blower box out from behind the dash, cutting bracing off the trunk lid and hood(unless I get a fiberglass one), and take a hole saw to the doors. And probly lose a little weight myself :hihi:

I had no clue the car was that light. I was estimating around 3000ish.

Smile speaking of 331's.......

I just traded into a '92 LX notch with a 331 and t-5 in it. Holy crap does this thing haul! Has the good stuff like GT40 intake 24lb injectors and longtubes with the off road pipe. SO much fun are my drag radials going to be! I don't know anything about the heads as they are iron, could be E7's or cast GT40's no idea. Lot of fun.

Don't go with the fiberglass hatch......

contrary to what you think the stock hatch helps with weight transfer.....

there are other places to shed weight.......

The '02 is 3,190# with me in it. The '01 is 3,075# with me in it. The Super Coupe is 3,680# without anyone in it. No wonder why it only ran low 15's.

Gotta love the Foxbody's for weight reduction......

+1 Reg. You need to shed weight up front as well as balance it a little better. A good front coilover kit will help with weight transfer. We measure Gearhead's car with him in it to ensure it is the same height side to side. Put yourself in your car, then measure the weight. You will see that you have too much FL than FR. Adjust the coilover on FL to distribute the weight more evenly. We also do the back the same way, then we measure height side to side out back. It takes time, but it helps out a ton.....

Chances are, once I get the converter squared away, I'll be relatively close. Then I'll only need a small shot to get a 10.xx

The thing is, I dont know how much power I'm making. I'll get to a dyno eventually. But I dont want to put the juice on and split my block and not have a ride

With that being said, when you split the block, does it mess up the rotating assembly? :?:
